Candelilla Wax is the vegetable alternative to beeswax or mineral waxes. It is obtained from the leaves of Candelilla Plants Euphorbia Antisyphilitica and Euphorbia Cerifera from the family Euphorbiaceae found in semi-desert regions. It is a complex mixture composed of wax hydrocarbons, wax, resin esters, lactones, free wax resin alcohols, and free wax resin acids. It is yellowish-brown, hard, brittle and opaque to translucent.
Candelilla Wax can be used in soap-making in the same way as beeswax and also in the preparation of lipsticks, lipgloss, furniture polish and leather preserving products.
